The 1st AATP Professional Development Workshop for Teachers of Persian
We are happy to announce the first workshop in a series of Professional Development Workshops for Teachers of Persian organized by the AATP, and co-hosted at two East-Coast institutions, the University of Maryland, College Park and Georgetown University. We hope that next year, we will have the second AATP workshop of these series in West-Coast or in Central-US institutions.

There is no registration fee and a light breakfast and lunch will be served each day.

Up to 15 non-local workshop participants can receive a stipend of $300 “in support of their participation costs” (the first 15 qualified registered participants).

Priority will be given to active members of the AATP.
Participants will engage in a variety of sessions on principles and practices of outcomes-based and proficiency based language teaching, assessment and feedback in Persian language classrooms, the role of literature in Persian language instruction, and developing cultural competence in the classroom and beyond. There is also an exclusive session on technologies for the language classroom led by experts from the Center for New Designs in Leaning and Scholarship at Georgetown University.
Dates: August 5-7, 2019
Time: 9 am to 5 pm on Aug 5-6, and 9 am to noon August 7 (flights can be scheduled for the afternoon of Aug 7)
Location: University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland AND Georgetown University, Washington DC (transportation to Georgetown provided)
